Clarence Darryl Steen passed away August 6, 2023, at his home in Terril, Iowa, with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law by his side. He was born on his grandparents’ farm in Ocheyedan on November 22, 1935, to George and Mae (Roskam) Steen. He spent his youth in the Ocheyedan, Sibley, and Allendorf area. He attended Westmar college.
He moved to the Spirit Lake area around 1960. He ran the movie theater and the drive-in for many years. He went to work for Berkeley’s in the maintenance department. When he left Berkeley’s he opened his own business, the Recycle shop and ran that for several years.
After selling his business, he and his wife, Wanda, traveled for several years finally settling In Estherville, IA where he went to work for the Superior Elevator as a driver for feed and fertilizer. He retired from the Superior elevator, he and his wife purchased an acreage in the Terril area where he remained until his death.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Dorothy, and his sister Cherryl Benson.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his brother, Terry (Janice) of Plymouth, MN; his sister, Jorja Patty of Tishomingo, MS; his son, Randy (Diane) of Windsor Heights, IA; his daughter, Susan (Steve) Botts of Ramona, CA; granddaughter, Krysten (Brian) Williams of Urbandale, IA; grandson,Jarrod (Dawn) of Pleasant Hills, IA; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Gia Williams, and Alivia Steen; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
There will be no funeral or services at his request.
