Carolyn Sue Mitchell, age 78, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2023. Carolyn was born April 15, 1944, in Martinez, California, to William Krueger and Loretta (Schiferl) Krueger. Carolyn grew up in Arnolds Park, Iowa, attending St. Joseph Catholic grade school and Arnolds Park High School, graduating in 1962. Carolyn went on to graduate from Iowa State University in 1966 with a B.S. in textiles and clothing.
August 24, 1968, Carolyn was united in marriage with Carlyle E. Mitchell at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa. To this union was born two daughters, Teressa in 1972 and Alison in 1978.
Carolyn enjoyed bowling, golf, tennis, swimming, water aerobics and especially playing bridge with friends. After retiring to Arizona, Carolyn and Carlyle traveled extensively on cruise ships and land tours.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Loretta Krueger and brother, Joseph (Elizabeth). Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carlyle; daughters, Teressa and Alison and sister Judy.
Funeral services will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Sun City, Arizona on April 27, at 12:00 CST. The services will be streamed live via Facebook at SESCCAZ. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at a later date.
