Bruce Edward Will passed away on October 27th, 2024, at home under Hospice care, after a hospital stay in Sioux City.
Bruce was born on December 9th, 1937, in Paton, Iowa, to Harry and Ila (Tonkinson) Will. After moving to the Milford area at age three, he attended two years of country school. He then moved to Milford Community Schools and graduated in 1956. Bruce was active in FFA, 4H, and class plays plus played football and basketball. A true farmer at heart, he graduated Veteran’s Farm School at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Bruce was a proud member of the Army. He served from 1960-1962. He spent 17 months in Germany, and had many good stories to tell about his time there. He was a member of the Terril American Legion.
July 1973 he married Weyvon Drake Wang in Spencer. He proudly adopted Kristin, Melissa and Brandon from Weyvon’s previous marriage. To this union, Matthew was born.
Bruce loved farming. He spent 28 years working at Eaton Corporation and sold Archer Oil to area farmers since 1965. He also served five years on the FSA county committee.
He was an active member of the Langdon United Methodist Church, serving as council chair for many years. From 1998-2002, each year he traveled to the East Coast to help with the Appalachian Service Project. This was a mission dear to his heart. He loved helping people.
Bruce enjoyed family vacations and gatherings, class reunions, reading farm magazines and gardening.
Two years ago he fulfilled a dream of going to Washington DC on an Honor Flight out of Fort Dodge. He met many people and had a wonderful time.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Weyvon of 51 years; children, Kristin (Wayne Kolander) Strohman Lakefield, MN; Melissa Fox, Columbia, SC;Brandon (Delene) Will, Omaha, NE; Matthew (Terra) Will, Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Andrew (Heather), Jenna Noa (George) and Nathan Strohman. Cassidy(Andrew) Christy and Cooper Fox, Nicholas and Drake Will, Alex Robertson, and one great grandson, Jameson Christy; brother, Aryln Will, Mesa, AZ and sister-in-law, Sally Will, Spirit Lake IA; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Deceased are his parents; brothers, Robert and Darwin; sisters-in-law, Janet and Gwen, and son-in-law, Steven Fox.
