Bonnie Gilbertson, 81, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Milford, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. In her life she found solace and strength in her faith in Jesus Christ as her savior.
Bonnie was born on a farm near Milford, Iowa, on February 14, 1943. She married Larry Wintz in 1959, and from this marriage they had four children. Later she married Jerry Gilbertson.
Bonnie’s life was marked by significant achievements. She had a long and successful career working at Microchip.
In her retirement, Bonnie had a passion for crocheting, and her beloved cats. She also enjoyed long scenic walks and had a deep love for finding homes for displaced cats.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Hicks, Tom, Becky Dubois, Terry Wintz, Dorothy, and Traci May, Lance. Ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Siblings Deann VanEnter, Dean, Bob, and Dave Welle. Several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Pearl Welle, her husband, Jerry Gilbertson, six siblings, and her son-in-law, Dave Dubois.
A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2025, and more details will be provided at a later date.
